EXHIBITION:
Opening of the long-term exhibition Aircraft Engines, the Longest Model Train, Labyrinth of Knowledge, Secrets of the Vaults – what you may not have seen, Motorcycles of Václav Svoboda III, Museum of Electrical Appliances and Environmental Effects.
The feature programme in the hall of the temple of science and technology will appeal to all aviation enthusiasts and many others besides. To coincide with the opening of a new exhibition of aircraft engines the theme of the night will be around aviation. The exhibitions will be brought to life by people in period costumes and uniforms.
The Salon of Mechanical Music will resound with authentic Slovakian folklore from the University Ensemble of Folk Song and Dance Poľana from Brno. The pub U Pavlíků will host the accordion player Daniel Kikta, in the hairdressing salon visitors will be given a perm by hairdressers from the Edward Scissorhands Studio. The bookmaking trade will be presented by students from the Integrated Secondary School of Polygraphy, and the Experimental Metal-casting Workshop will show examples of the craft.
18.00 Museum Night 2012 will be launched by the Jazz Band Brno commemorating Gustav Brom 19.00, 20.30, 22.00 and 23.30The Magic of Aviation, a short theatre performance about the history of the art of flying. The guide through the development of aviation, especially its milestones, as well its pitfalls, is Dr. Zdeněk Korčián who will also be the MC for the night, and will be assisted by his actor-colleagues and all other available means and props.
The performance will be given a pleasant evening mood in a 1930s style by the Melody Band, supported by the Louis Armstrong Revival band.
MUSEUM PRECINCT:
In the car park below the museum building visitors will see a unique exhibition of giant models of ships, submarines and aircraft called the Battle of Midway.
Weather permitting, an anchored hot-air balloon from Balóny Kubíček Co. will hover in the aircraft exhibition. Segway-Brno will provide an opportunity to test today’s most up-to-date transport vehicles.
Ample refreshments will be available in the museum courtyard.
Show rides of historical buses from the TMB collections will be incorporated in the timetable of shuttle buses from the Brno Public Transport Authority.
